Israeli military units have reportedly carried out incursions in southern Syria, further heightening tensions in the region. According to eyewitness accounts, Israeli forces moved westward into the village of Al-Asha, near the occupied Golan Heights, where they searched a home. Meanwhile, other units advanced toward Tal al-Ahmar, a strategic hill in Quneitra province, close to the Israeli border.

On April 18, an Israeli patrol consisting of 20 soldiers and four military vehicles entered the village of Umm al-Azam in rural Quneitra, establishing a checkpoint at the dam crossing, detaining civilians, and confiscating motorcycles—later returned to their owners.

These incursions coincided with Israeli warplanes conducting flights over Quneitra and Daraa, exacerbating fears of further conflict in a region already plagued by repeated territorial violations.

Beyond ground operations, Israeli forces reportedly attacked Syrian shepherds in Al-Hamidiya, located in the Quneitra countryside. The incident took place as soldiers withdrew from previous incursions in Al-Asha and Al-Asbah, retreating to their positions on Al-Ahmar and Al-Gharbi hills.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights condemned these actions, labeling them as part of a persistent series of violations against Syria’s sovereignty. The organization warned that Israeli forces appear intent on reshaping the status quo in the region, citing the “suspicious silence” of the international community and the disregard for local demands to halt further aggression.

With diplomatic efforts failing to curb escalating hostilities, concerns grow over the increasing militarization of occupied Syrian territory and the broader implications for regional stability.
